Gail Troth

Since graduating in 2003 with a degree in Fine Art Gail has exhibited in numerous group exhibitions and shown in Art Fairs in Birmingham and London.
She has won and been nominated for several awards including The Golley Slater Fine Art Award and the DLA Art Award. A long standing interest in science especially biology and physics informs her paintings.  She is a member of the international Nature Inspired Design Cluster where naturally occurring design
methods in science and engineering are explored and discussed. Her paintings are constructed using a method she has developed that involves dropping the
paint into a pool of fluid rather than using a brush. This non-interventionist approach allows the self-organisational character of the paint to reveal itself.  The construction of the paintings is unique. Gail does not use a brush and never touches the canvas or painted surface. The dropping technique allows the paint to self-organise and creates delicate structure and pattern. The artist is fascinated by self-organisation and how it occurs in general within all natural systems. In her practise she allows an unfolding to occur from a point not amenable to manual manipulation.
