— Artist profile

Jane Freear-Wyld

With photography as her starting point the artist manipulates, crops and slices images to create the design for tapestry or print weaving. The tapestries are made using traditional techniques, woven on frames or using an upright loom. For the print weaves, colour printouts with either their black and white, or negative, partner print are cut and woven together. Jane uses traditional techniques to create contemporary landscapes and is interested in reflections in water and glass in her work. During the last eight years she has exhibited widely in the UK and Europe.
