— Artist profile

Julian Rowe

The artist explores questions of scale, repetition and narrative, sometimes through large scale works that resemble the collected artefacts of lost cultures and sometimes through works in which often familiar images are miniaturised and replicated.  In both cases he invites the viewer to complete the narrative.  Julian has a BA Hons degree in Philosophy and Art History and is currently studying for an MA in Fine Art at Canterbury.  The concept, starting point and theme in almost all his work is the retrieved object, one that has been unearthed, or perhaps collected from some far-off place.  Works seen here include the large scale installations and sculptures of miniature images.
