Fashion and contemporary culture are a major influence in my work and these paintings pinpoint a specific moment in time identifiable by the clothes and the hairstyles. This painting is part of a series exploring identity and stereotyping. Everybody jostling to be different or unique but they’re all the same, they fit into tribes. The inspiration for this piece is taken from a Spanish fashion & culture magazine Neu. Punk girl uses bold colours to express detail in the clothing placing less of an emphasis on the figure. The figure is left unpainted, the surface of the board proving a natural skin tone.
