Aston Business School has unveiled two new commissions by Eryka Isaak and Ruth Spaak.
Fire is a contemporary glass sculpture by Eryka Isaak exploring the relationship between glass and the natural environment. Placed in the Business School's courtyard garden this iridescent and pearlescent work responds to changing weather and natural light levels. At dusk and through the night the glass elements come alive as they are illuminated by the incorporated low-energy lighting.

Taking its inspiration from the courtyard garden, Ruth Spaak's Reverberations 1-5 are a series of mixed media sculptural hangings installed and bringing life to the corridor running the length of the courtyard. Ruth has designed and created unique, intricate and textured sculptures that spill out of the walls. Each piece is made of robust kiln-fired glass pieces, ties and other fixings.

Professor Mike West, Executive Dean, Aston Business School comments, "The artwork we have commissioned for Aston Business School is intended to challenge while conveying excellence of craft, creativity, innovation and depth - the values we seek to incorporate into our research, learning and teaching and our business engagement. The pieces are also positive and dynamic, encouraging a sense of optimism, wonder and delight amongst those to come to our community. We want to create an environment for staff, students and visitors that is both inspiring and innovative".
