Chris Keenan’s portrait of Tom, a Prefab home owner in Moseley, Birmingham, will be exhibited in the prestigious Portraits Exhibition at the Centre for Fine Art Photography, Colorado, USA.
52 artists from seven countries will be exhibiting in November 2009. The juror, American photographer Mary Ellen Mark, selected Chris’ work from over 2,500 entries. Mark is known for her portraiture, photojournalism and documentary photography. She has had 17 of her collections of work published and has exhibited in galleries worldwide. She has received numerous accolades, including three fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts. Mark was awarded the Photographer of the Year Award from the Friends of Photography, three Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Awards, Matrix Award for outstanding woman in the field of film/photography, World Press Award for Outstanding Body of Work Throughout the Years, Victor Hasselblad Cover Award, and numerous other prestigious awards. Today, she is recognised as one of the world's most respected and influential photographers and we are delighted that she, in turn, has recognised the work of Chris Keenan.
